Every New Media sophomore was tasked with creating a poster for Imagine RIT using Cinema 4d for our 3D class's final. We had to represent RIT however we saw fit. I was inspired by the tunnels on campus, my classes as a design major, and the SHED, which was recently opened at the time to boost the performing arts. I recycled the idea of the spiraling piano from my Daisy Bell poster from the year before.
Although I didn't win, I enjoyed this project. It taught me whether or not you win shouldn't be what defines your worth. What matters is the effort you put in and if you're proud of what you've made.
I think I was too focused on the fact that it was 3D and lost my sense of composition a bit. If I did this project again, I would change the words IMAGINE RIT to make them more legible, tweak the color palette, and add more references to the school.
